6 Ways Chronic Pain Is Affecting Your Life

If you’re one of the millions of people who suffer with chronic pain on a daily basis, then your life is already affected. In mainstream medicine the focus on a diagnosis (many people never get one) and the treatment that is available is almost always pain management through medication. Certainly medication has its place in relieving the symptoms of pain but it also can be addictive. Long term, continuous use of pain medication can harm your body creating more possibilities for pain and disease.

You may have been told that you just ‘have to live with it’ but that’s not the truth. Pain is not a random event – it’s there for a reason. Pain is your body’s way of letting you know that something isn’t right and needs to change. There is a lot that happens in your body that mainstream testing can’t see. It could be that your body is out of balance and creating toxicity, it could be that an internal organ is sluggish and not functioning correctly, it could be a fungal infection or even that your nervous system is overactive and creating pain in a loop. Each of these issues can be improved or corrected to provide long-term relief.

Here’s 6 ways pain may be affecting your life.

Pain Is Exhausting

When pain is your constant companion, you are constantly exhausted. It’s like having the flu every day. Even doing nothing is exhausting but most people who experience chronic pain still have to get up and go to work every morning. You still have responsibilities you are expected to meet. The effort required to get through your day leaves you completely drained.

Pain Makes It Difficult To Sleep

Exhaustion caused by chronic pain is not relieved by a good night’s sleep. Many people find that sleep eludes them as the pain doesn’t magically stop just because it’s bedtime. The solution to this is often sleeping pills but even though you’re not aware of it, your body is still sending you pain messages to try to get your attention. You might be ‘switched off’ but your body isn’t.

Pain Can Make You Intolerant

When you’re dealing with pain day in and day out, your tolerance for other people can become very low. You may find you start out okay at the beginning of the day but by the end of it, you just need some peace and quiet. Managing your responses when you are in pain can feel almost impossible.

Pain Kills Your Concentration

Just because you’re in pain every day doesn’t mean that life stops. You still need to meet your responsibilities and although you can distract yourself for a time, those pain messages just get louder and louder until you can no longer think of anything else.

Pain Is Damaging To Your Self-Esteem

No matter how hard you try to join in with everyone else, you just don’t have the energy. And it drives the people around you crazy. It feels awful to be left out, to be excluded or to see the unhappy faces of the people you love when you say ‘no’ to yet another outing or social event.

Pain Causes Isolation

The fact that you can’t face social events or invite people over often means you are alone. The effort to be with others is just too much for you to deal with. Every part of your body, mind and emotions are already occupied with the job of coping with the pain you’re feeling. There is nothing left for anything or anyone else.

This is no way to live. It’s a half-life, full of disappointments, sadness, misunderstandings and of course pain. And not just physical pain but mental and emotional pain as well.

You don’t need to settle for a life of pain.

You don’t need settle for pain management.

You can leave the pain behind you and live a life full of everything you desire.
